Breakaway Training

The course is in two parts over one day and begins with verbal de-escalation, signs of aggression and theory behind the subject. The second part of the course is a practical session where delegates will be shown and practice how to safely and effectively carry out breakaway techniques
OUTCOMES
By the end of the course delegates will be able to:
- State the key elements of assessing risk (Person Environment Task)
- Explore the use of dynamic risk assessment in order to recognise the early warning signals of impending aggression or violence
- Share strategies for de-escalating aggression
- State the importance of personal space in dealing with a threatening situation?
- Explore the key concepts of reasonable force within UK Legislation
- State the importance of reporting all incidents of aggression and violence
- Create a checklist for safety when delivering a breakaway techniques course
- Demonstrate effective simple and safe methods for escaping from:
- Arm, wrist and hand grabs
- Clothing grabs
- Hair grabs
- Bear hugs
- Bear hugs
- Bites, kicks and punches
- Strangle holds
