Safe Systems Safe Handling Course

This is a RRN Approved course and complies with CQC standards and fits OFSTED requirements, and is BiLD Endorsed.

Candidates will receive an endorsed certificate after passing this course.

The course can be adapted for many areas including helping Schools deal with challenging behaviour, Hospitals and care providers who deal with aggression as well as issues around Mental Health, dementia and other brain injuries. The course is strongly trauma informed so will also help any organisation who deal with service users who may display aggressive behaviour.

This has been developed using analytical models, that enable learning from incidents and sharing good practice, using effective communication/de-escalation techniques, in a proactive approach to managing behaviour. These training workshops will enable your staff to provide care in their setting with the added confidence of knowing they are equipped with the necessary skills to manage difficult patients, and service users, their families and friends whilst remaining within the framework of the law.
Staff will learn about their personal psychological responses to challenging behaviour, the needs and wants of the aggressor, the reasons why behaviour can escalate and how to plan for and manage escalated behaviour.
Using recognised HSE models, your staff will acquire the skills to undertake task-based risk assessment and implement effective practicable control measures that will keep your staff and the service users safe in any workplace environment.
The use of reasonable force in any setting can be a minefield for staff so this will help to simplify these areas by explaining the law and how it applies in every situation involving escalated behaviour.

We achieve this by providing your staff with the knowledge and skills in

  • Understanding behaviour
  • Communication
  • De-escalation
  • Restrictive and Non-restrictive Physical Interventions
  • Restorative Practises
